Blanka Tunnel Complex

City Ring in Part Malovanka – Pelc-Tyrolka

Description of the Contract

The Blanka tunnel complex is divided into four separate constructions, the design preparation of which has always proceeded simultaneously and was therefore coordinated so that the entire complex of constructions were one functional whole. The route passes under urbanized environment on the boundaries of the historical Prague center; it is routed in driven and cut-and-cover tunnels, with connection ramps in important junctions. It is one of the most complicated constructions that have ever existed in Prague, not only with regard to the transportation structure proper, but alsodue to the number of necessary relocations of buried services or traffic measures during the construction. Such demands scope is comparable probably with the first operating subway sections only. The total length of the tunnel complex is 5,5 km, from that the driven sections measure almost 3 kilometers. The ventilation machine room under Letná represents one of the biggest driven spaces in the Czech Republic.
